It’s always exciting to push local events that encourage support of established and up and coming creatives in Mzansi. One such event is Mother City Live happening on the 26th of November that will feature head act, rap phenome Dope Saint Jude.
Birthed in the Mother City herself, and due to perform at Mother City Live, Dope Saint Jude is not your typical hip-Hop artist. She’s as controversial as she is incredible and thrusts hip hop into a more social environment where she bases her ideologies. Think grrrl power with grit!
A socially conscious artist advocating for race and gender neutrality, she has toured all over the world blessing audiences with her self-produced artistry. She forms part of the first phase line-up, and will be headlining the event Mother City Live on the 26th of November.
The festival forms part of the Woodstock Live series of events offering in Trafalgar Park. Their objective is to creative socially inclusive events which reignite the use of this historic space.
I am looking forward to this locally brewed line up of some familiar faces performances by fellow musicians like Vuyo Renene.
Such an important platform for young South Africans, I can only hope to see more events like this come up.
